Boating season is just around the corner and at Florida Best Quote Insurance we want to make sure that your boat has the right coverage. The two questions we get all the time are:
What does boat insurance cover?
Do I have to have a separate policy for my watercrafts (PWC)?
Boat insurance provides more thorough coverage for your vessel. Boat insurance policies breakdown similarly to auto insurance policies in that you get coverage for the boat itself, liability coverage, and even coverage against uninsured boaters too. It covers most watercraft with motors, including fishing boats, pontoon boats, paddle boats, leisure crafts and yachts. Boat insurance does not cover canoes, kayaks or personal watercrafts (PWCs). For small watercrafts, you may find some limited coverage under your homeowner’s policy. You may also be able to add a special endorsement or buy separate coverage.
We recommend getting two separate policies one for your boat and one for your personal watercrafts (PWC). If you also have special accessories on the boat such as fishing gear, trailers or anchors we recommend adding to your boat insurance policy specialty coverages.
